"I know Bubba is very excited about this and we are certainly excited to have him with us," fellow owners Quint and Rishy Studer told the Pensacola News Journal.
Watson resides in Bagdad, Florida, just 20 miles from Pensacola on the opposite of Escambia Bay.
The Wahoos are the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds. The club finished last in the Southern League's South division in 2014, with a 60-80 record. Pensacola opens its 2015 season on April 9 against the Biloxi Shuckers.
Watson opened his 2015 campaign with a 10th place finish at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
